When in Malibu, dogs are generally welcome in outdoor dining areas. Katina Zinner has two lovely rescued Dalmatians and knows the best spots to take your dogs in and around Malibu.
Enjoying Malibu with dogs? Malibu is known to be a dog friendly town and pups are welcome in many restaurant outdoor areas. You’ll see them stretched out on the patio of Sunlife Organics, catching the rays ~ the establishment has two locations ~ one in Cross Creek in Central Malibu and one on Pt. Dume.
The spacious outdoor patio area at Pt. Dume Village is a dog’s heaven. If you’re in the mood for some chow, try Lily’s Malibu ~ its tacos, burritos and enchiladas are very popular with Malibuites.
Another wonderful dining option is Le Cafe de la Plage ~ whether you indulge in one of their delectable French pastries with an affogato ~ the best in town ~ or one of the establishment’s superb omelets. Or come in later in the day for their wonderful ice cream or gelato - you can’t miss it. @lecafedelaplagemalibu.
Malibu has a lot of accommodations welcoming dogs, including motels & short term rentals. To find your perfect place: www.bringfido.com/lodging/city/malibu_ca_us.
Nothing makes a dog happier than going on a hike, and the wonderful Santa Monica Mountain range offers lots of options. Solstice Canyon is an easy walk for dogs and owners. Often, there is water for splashing around at the creek. Malibu Bluffs trail provides panoramic ocean views and one can even picnic in the park next to the Michael Landon Community Center - there are swings and play structures for kids as well.
The Corral Canyon loop is a 2.3 mile trail and it features a river to frolic in ~ begin at the Sara Wan Trailhead right next to Malibu Seafood. After the hike, that restaurant is a great place to eat and has an impressive deli as well ~ if you’re a ceviche fan, you’ll love their version. @malibuseafood.
Step out in Style ~ Consider taking your pooch on an unforgettable day trip up to Santa Barbara ~ an enchanted city nestled between the sea and the Santa Ynez Mountains.
There’s nothing more heavenly than spending time on a beach with dogs ~ the fresh ocean mist, vast stretches of sand that never end, their ears flapping in the wind ~ pure freedom & bliss! Heaven!
Stop by Arroyo Burro Beach, known locally as Hendry’s Beach. Only ten minutes west of downtown Santa Barbara, this slice of silica offers surf, sand and sun and rocky tide pools that dogs find intriguing. The adjacent Douglas Family Preserve sports 70 acres of dog-friendly open space and there’s even a self-serve dog wash. It’s easy to lose yourself in the glorious scenery and vibrant vibe.
If you’re hungry ~ dogs are most welcome at The Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach, an upscale seafood and brunch spot right on the water affording panoramic views and a heated outdoor patio. The Boathouse’s Happy Hour is one of the best in town. @sb_boathouse.
Consider splurging ~ visit El Encanto Santa Barbara, a true California classic that offers the best views of the American Riviera and gorgeous gardens, featuring a stunning Lily Pond and Arbor. Enjoy a delectable picnic on the great lawn.
